Fund established by Sherman Schapiro to support graduates of McKinleyville High School who wish to attend Cal Poly Humboldt and to also honor the staff who supported them. Eligible individuals include any graduating or graduated McKinleyville High School students as well as graduates who are transfer students and have initially started advanced work at a junior college or other institution of higher learning and have not yet completed a bachelor's degree. Endowment established to provide ongoing financial support for the Michael B. Smeaton Biology Scholarship, which awards one annual scholarship to a Biology undergraduate student majoring in the Cellular/Molecular concentration. Must have at least a sophomore standing when receiving funds and have a financial need. Preference will be given to students planning to enter the medical field or graduate school. Fund established to honor the memory of Cal Poly Humboldt graduate Michael B. Smeaton by providing one annual scholarship to a Biology undergraduate student majoring in the Cellular/Molecular concentration.
