Scott Distinguished Lecture Series--named for a graduate of Cal Poly Humboldt who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries in June 1975, and Cuthbert L. Scott III—which provides significant enhancement to the Fisheries Biology program by facilitating exposure to the ideas of prominent regional, national and international fisheries biologists through the sharing and dissemination of research and information and interaction with students and members of the academic and campus community. Michael died July 6,1987 in Ketchikan, Alaska, where he was serving as a fishery biologist with the U.S. Forest Service, assigned to Misty Fjords National Monument.
