Her commitment to nurses on the frontlines and to the residents of Humboldt County was never more apparent than during the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

Her focus and dedication to the extraordinary rural healthcare that she observed and expanded upon since her arrival in early 2017 inspired the creation of this scholarship as a way to support her and the local healthcare community.

“I am humbled and honored by this recognition and by the generosity of Wayne Caldwell and Premier Philanthropic. When I first came to Humboldt, I was impressed by the extraordinary level of technology and treatments offered by what one would suspect would be a small, local hospital, but in actuality serves as a regional medical center providing state of the art care, equivalent in many ways to a larger, urban medical environment. The outpouring of generosity by the community and the wonderful talent attracted here has made this possible.”  - Roberta Luskin-Hawk, MD

“I was very inspired to fund this scholarship out of love and respect for Roberta. Her leadership shifted my and my firm’s philanthropic focus to local healthcare. It is truly an honor to do this.”- Wayne Caldwell, CFP®
