About

Your gift to this fund will Larkin Carol Wells Remembrance Scholarship, which supports undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree within the Department of Environmental Science and Management. (CNRS)

This scholarship was established to celebrate the life and passion of Larkin (Larks) Carol Wells, who found her most profound joy in the natural world. Larkin grew up exploring the outdoors and especially loved hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains. After graduating from Long Beach Poly High School, she followed her calling to Cal Poly Humboldt, where she
earned a degree in Environmental Science and Management (emphasis in Ecological Restoration and Rangeland Science) with a minor in Business Administration. Additionally, she had the honor of her Capstone project, Comparing Fish Species Assemblage Between Impacted and Restored Estuarine Salt Marshes within the Eel River Estuary, being published.

After graduating in 2023, Larkin wanted to share her passion for the environment as a Middle School Science teacher, a path she was actively pursuing when her life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in December 2024. Her commitment to environmental stewardship and education lives on through this fund, which seeks to carry forward Larkin’s values by supporting students who share her dedication to protecting the natural world she cherished.
