Most recently, Dan served as EVP & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Chamberlain group, a Blackstone portfolio company, before retiring in April, 2025. Prior to Chamberlain, Dan served as Hulu’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) through its hyper growth as Hulu became a premier streaming media service and the largest OTT Live Service in the US during his tenure. Dan oversaw all aspects of product strategy, development, delivery, and operations including product management, user experience, engineering, IT, security, and operations.

Prior to Hulu, Dan served as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) at TiVo as it redefined television viewing and through its expansion into International markets. With the sale of TiVo in 2016 Dan managed the merger and integration with Rovi/Xperi as the executive vice president of engineering and operations. Earlier in his career he held leadership positions at several technology companies including SVP of Engineering, Product & Service at Trados and VP of Engineering & VP Product Management at CrossWorlds through its IPO and until its acquisition by IBM. Dan started his business and technical career by co-founding MetaSystems in Arcata, CA following graduation from Cal Poly Humboldt.

Dan served as the Chair of Cal Poly Humboldt’s Boldly Rising Campaign Cabinet focused on the University’s transition in becoming California’s third Polytech University and fundraising to advance University programs and student scholarships. Against a goal of $50M, Boldly Rising raised $59M and completed a year early.  Dan co-founded Lost Coast Ventures with John Ballard, a public benefit organization to provide seed capital and mentoring for ventures coming out of Cal Poly Humboldt or College of the Redwoods and where all proceeds ultimately are returned to the institutes.

Dan also serves as Co-Chair for the President’s Council at College of the Redwoods focused on advancing the college's master plan and elevating K-14 education on the California North Coast.

Dan graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt in 1991 with BS degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration and received the Universities Man of the Year award. In 2025, he was given an Honorary Doctorate by Cal Poly Humboldt for his work in advancing education and elevating the economic opportunities on the North Coast.
