Fund established to provide a scholarship to a full-time Geology student whose research interests have an emphasis in Geomorphology or Quaternary Geology. College of Natural Resources & Sciences (CNRS)

The Bud Burke Geology Scholarship was initiated as the result of a generous anonymous donor in support of graduate research in the name of Raymond “Bud” Burke PhD. Bud, a professor emeritus of the department of Geology has dedicated much of his academic life to the understanding of Quaternary geomorphology and the role of soils and their development in understanding past climates.

Bud started with the Geology department in 1979 and retired in 2014. He taught numerous field camps at Cerro Gordo, Mazourka Canyon and Swansea in the Inyo Mountains of CA and Roberts Mountains and California Springs of Nevada. Bud is an active researcher and engages with current students at informal geology events.
