What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or campaign by raising contributions from a large number of people, typically through internet platforms.
HSU is using crowdfunding to share projects of HSU students, faculty and staff in order to build awareness with the community and solicit support. The power of social media and other digital communication allows campaign messages to reach more potential supporters than traditional fundraising measures.
How does crowdfunding at HSU work?
First, HSU student groups, faculty and staff apply for their projects to be featured. As promising ideas are approved to be posted, new fundable projects are released on the HSU crowdfunding platform. You can follow @humboldtloyaltyhsu on Facebook to learn about new projects as they are added.
Throughout the fundraising period, funds are collected and added up on the project page. At the end of the fundraising period, the campaign closes and all the contributions from the community are totaled and awarded to the project.
Each posted project is approved by the HSU Foundation Tax ID 94-6077724.
How can I help?
If you see a project you like, help make it happen by making a donation! Any amount is welcome, and anyone can contribute!
To check the progress of a campaign, you can visit the project page at any time. Once the fundraiser ends, expect a final project update from the team and an outpouring of gratitude because you (and a whole lot of other people) just made a huge difference at HSU. Thank you!
REALLY excited about a project? Share it with your friends and family and grow your impact even more! Each campaign can be easily shared on social media using the simple tools on each campaign’s page. Help us share your favorite projects with more potential supporters!
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Please consult with your tax advisor to determine if your gift qualifies. Because these contributions are intended to be charitable, no refunds will be issued. You will receive a charitable gift receipt by email after you make your donation.
I have a project that could use funding!
All Humboldt State University programs and registered student organizations are eligible for project submission. Please note that no one individual may benefit from the funds raised.
Here’s the easy online form which includes the basic information you'll need to gather to submit a project. Take a few minutes to fill out the form and someone will be in touch with you within 3-5 business days.
